Sending feedback

Open Feedback from the footer of any page. Pick what it is (bug, idea, praise or question), write at least 10 characters, and press Send (or Ctrl+Enter). You get a reference such as 7F3K; keep it if you want to ask about the message later.

What is sent

Under What we send you see every part of the context with its own tick, and Show me exactly opens the data as it will leave your browser.

  • Build: your browser and system name (never the raw user agent), screen size and language.
  • Place: the page you came from, without a query string.
  • Account: your W4 ID number (not your email), only when you are signed in.

Nothing is collected before you open the form and nothing is sent before you press Send. No cookies, passwords, paths or addresses.

Contact and screenshot

Signed in, we link the message to your W4 ID. Otherwise you may leave an email and tick whether we may contact you; without the tick it is never used to write to you. A screenshot is optional: PNG or JPEG up to 1 MB, shown before it goes.

If it does not go through

Your text stays in the form. If you send too much too fast, the page says when you can try again.

Taking it back

When the message is stored you are shown a withdraw token once, with a copy button. The reference and the token, entered under "Withdraw something you sent" on the feedback page, delete the message, its context and its screenshot. We cannot show the token again, and sending the same text twice within an hour stores nothing new and shows the first reference.

In the game

The same form is inside the game: press F8 on the start screens, use the Send feedback link beside the version number, Report this game on the results screen, or the command palette entry Send feedback. It sends over HTTPS to this site (/api/feedback), lists what it sends with a tick for each part and Show me exactly, and shows the reference and the one-time withdraw token with a Copy token button. When the service cannot be reached, or you have used your allowance, the report is kept on your computer and sent the next time the game starts. The pause card and the connection-problem screens of a running game do not open it yet. The address can be changed with feedback_url in engine.toml (https only).
